The Center for Health & Healing will be opening its doors in Mount Kisco, NY. Melanie Ryan is the company's founder and has been working around the clock, with her husband Andy to get the place up and running. And they are now on the cusp of making a big splash in the holistic and alternative medicine arena. With the move complete, it provided us with an opportunity to showcase the many rooms and spaces that will be used for a variety of reasons; including pain management, yoga and meditation just to name a few. This is an exciting new business and I wish Melanie and Andy all the best in their pursuit of executing on their vision!

This was an incredibly exciting photography opportunity! Not only did I get to shoot family portraits for perhaps the most photogenic family in all of Boston, but was able to do so at an historic indoor venue; Boston's Fairmont Copley, built in 1912 and constructed on the grounds of the old Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Several of the ballrooms were not only open, but completely empty AND usable; rooms like these I would imagine are normally reserved for weddings or important conferences. It was a privilege to get to shoot there. The staff was even kind enough to turn the lights on for us!

If I had to guess, I'd say the one who appreciated the open space most was a very charming and energetic 2 year old. She explored a lot of terrain and it was a blast getting to capture all of that enthusiasm and genuine happiness. Her parents were amazing and somehow were able to transform the Fairmont into a giant indoor playground experience. So many sweet moments were captured. Here are only a few.

Boston has broken every record associated with cold and snow this winter. Much of my portrait photography relies on shooting outdoors, so like the bears, it went into hibernation. But on this day in March, temperatures finally eked above freezing, which was enough to move forward with a headshot session.

We hit the jackpot in terms of lighting- the clouds acted as a giant diffuser, creating a "soft light" environment; ideal for portrait photography. The subject, Stefano, was poised, relaxed and looked like he had done this a thousands times before!

It's been a long winter in Boston. I can't remember the last time the Charles River was covered in snow for this long. Even bikers stopped using their bikes, which highlights just how bad things got. And this Sunday marks the first time in perhaps over a month that Boston was not under some sort of blizzard watch. All the more reason for why I was so eager to shoot this session.

We had perfect conditions. And when I say perfect, I mean cloudy with just enough light to make the pictures really pop. We walked up and down Commonwealth Ave in Back Bay, and despite a bit of a wind chill, managed pretty well. I thought Alex's expressions conveyed a great deal of confidence; it is pretty amazing how pictures can capture the people we are.

My cousin Ruth is probably one of the most amazing people I have ever met. She runs a marketing business in Toronto and has 5 kids. 'nuff said.

A 6th came into the picture not too long ago and is pictured below. Brody is cuddly and enormously affectionate. If it weren't for the fact that he peed on me shortly after our introduction, we would probably be a lot closer.  Ruth was kind enough to let me photograph the two of them shortly after having woken up, and with no advanced warning.

So without further adieu, here is the CEO of MarketingWise, Inc and her pup:
