A sunrise view from Fort Beach in Marblehead, where vivid color over the harbor meets seaweed-covered rocks in the foreground. The natural curve of the rocks pulls the eye inward toward the lighthouse and the light beyond.
Artist Note
I took this from Fort Beach as the colors of sunrise were starting to intensify and the view toward the lighthouse was becoming spectacular. But the rocks I was standing on were too interesting to ignore. The green seaweed, the shape of the rocks, and the way they seemed to spiral inward gave me a different way to frame the scene. Combined with the sunrise beyond, those foreground details made the whole view feel much more distinctive than a straightforward lighthouse photograph.
