A vivid winter sunrise over Front Beach in Marblehead, photographed just after a snowstorm. Fresh snow, early morning light, and intense color come together to transform this familiar shoreline into a striking nautical winter scene.
Artist Note
I made this photograph not long after moving to Marblehead, when I was in full exploratory mode and constantly looking for new angles around town. Front Beach quickly became one of my regular spots, especially at sunrise. Since I’m an early bird, it gave me no shortage of great visuals. On this morning, after a 2021 snowstorm had moved through Marblehead, the sky absolutely dazzled. With fresh snow on the ground and the first light creeping in, the colors exploded and covered the whole scene in these almost unearthly hues. It turned into a fully winterized nautical scene that felt unmistakably Marblehead.
