Aurora Borealis in Marblehead, MA

October 8th, 2024 A mesmerizing display of northern lights appeared in our skies last night, as well as the night before. Until recently, I thought this phenomena could only be observed by traveling to Alaska or Finland or areas close to the arctic circle. However, in May of this year, we experienced a major northern lights event here in Marblehead, which broke down every preconceived notion that I had. Apparently we are at the peak of an 11 year solar cycle whereby the sun's magnetic poles FLIP! Who knew?! Near the end of the cycle, coronal mass ejections (CME's) become more prevalent. Chunks of the sun are launched towards earth and fluoresce when they come into contact with earth's charged...

February 2022 new photos

Wrapping up a great month of skiing, snow days and time in Vermont. This is the first winter that my kids can ski trails more difficult than the bunny trails. They quickly progressed beyond the greens and are now solid blue square skiers. It is so much fun skiing with them now! We have spent a lot of time away from home, driving north into Vermont to take advantage of winter outdoor activities. So far, most of Vermont has underperformed in terms of snowfall this season. A significant thawing event occurred mid-month, followed by a snowstorm, allowing for scenes like the top middle photo to emerge. 2021 Q3 Photo Update

This summer flew by- here are a few of my self-anointed highlights, including 1 photo from each of the past 3 months: 1. Poses I have been running the Swampscott Photography Group for a few years now, which had slowed down and basically come to a screeching halt due to Covid. Over the summer, started leveraging Instagram to try to reinvigorate our meetups. Several folks showed up for this meetup in July, and it was really a pleasure meeting people, making some new connections and getting to shoot.
